History of Art
Exploring works of art in terms of both aesthetic and historical issues is this department’s focus. Programs concentrate on a broad range of the arts, both Western and non-Western, ancient and modern, from Greek and Roman to African, Asian, Baroque and Buddhist. Members of the faculty are highly respected for their accomplishments and publications in art history, theory and criticism, as well as for their numerous distinguished teaching and departmental awards.
