Area of Study: Contemporary and New Media Art
Stephanie Kang specializes in contemporary new media art, specifically video, installation, and Internet art that addresses issues of identity. Before attending The Ohio State University, she received her MFA in visual art from Washington University in St. Louis in 2015 and her BFA in studio art from Calvin College in 2013. Drawing on her previous studies of visual art and culture, her current research focuses on contemporary work that utilizes social media platforms and Internet culture to examine newly formed perceptions of personal and collective identity. Her work has been exhibited at venues and institutions like the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, and the Athens Digital Arts Festival.
