The College of Arts and Sciences Melton Center for Jewish Studies present Rick and Laura Brown, Art and Architecture faculty from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and Thomas C. Hubka, Emeritus Professor of Architectural History from University of Wisconsin. Please join us to learn about this collaborative project with students, academics and the new Museum of the History of Polish Jews. The reconstruction of what was one of the most beautiful 18th century synagogues in Poland - the Gwoździec wooden synagogue is an exquisite expression in timber and paint of Poland’s historical diversity. All of the wooden synagogues from earlier centuries were destroyed by the Nazis in World War II.
