History of Art 8821: Graduate Seminar on Art and Race in East Asia visits Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum
Professor Namiko Kunimoto took the students in her History of Art 8821 Graduate Seminar on Art and Race in East Asia to visit the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum (BICL&M) on Ohio State’s campus. The focus of their visit was to view Japanese manga, as well as discuss the racist works of cartoonist Milton Caniff that are a part of the founding collection of the BICL&M.
The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum houses the world’s largest collection of materials related to cartoons and comics, including original art, books, magazines, journals, comic books, archival materials, and newspaper comic strip pages and clippings. It is an exceptional resource to have in Columbus.
Special thanks to the curatorial staff of the BICL&M for facilitating the visit!
