History of Art Major Savannah Johnson-Grove Completes Summer Internship at Stone Quarry Art Park

From June through July this summer, History of Art major Savannah Johnson-Grove completed an internship at Stone Quarry Art Park. Located in Cazenovia, New York, the park highlights a rotating selection of work by contemporary artists and artists-in-residence—as well as pieces from the collection of its founder, Dorothy Riester—in an outdoor sculpture garden spread across over 100 acres in upstate New York.
As an intern, Savannah performed a variety of tasks, including creating a catalog for the extensive art library found in Dorothy Riester’s historic home, maintaining artworks across the park grounds, creating signage to promote events, and working with Patricia Christakos—Stone Quarry Art Park’s 2025 Hilltop House Fellow—to support her efforts to restore Riester’s home as an artist-in-residence.
Savannah notes that her internship with Stone Quarry Art Park gave her the opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day operations of a non-profit arts organization, as well as a closer look at how projects between artists and those organization are developed and brought to fruition.
