Professor Namiko Kunimoto's essay "Autumn Strawberry" was recently published in Cindy Mochizuki's artist book of the same title. The art book, published by the Surrey Gallery of Art, includes writing about and documentation of Mochizuki's multimedia art project Autumn Strawberry (2021). The project considers the experiences of Japanese Canadians who worked in berry farms in British Columbia in the pre-war era, prior to Japanese Canadian Internment. Autumn Strawberry weaves together archival research and stories from interviews to re-imagine the livelihood and survival of these families.
