Professor Richardson is a specialist in the field of Renaissance Art in Europe with a secondary interest in the post-Renaissance Art of the West (1600-1960). His own field of expertise is in Venetian Art of the Renaissance. Over the years he has contributed to numerous professional organizations and held several academic distinctions including being a Fulbright scholar in Italy (Padua, 1959-1960) and an I Tatti Fellow (1984-1985).
