Peter Smyth is a PhD student studying comics and painting, particularly in the context of European modernism and the American alternative comics tradition. He received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MA from the University of Chicago. His MA thesis, "Mixing Comics and Literature in Calvino's Castle of Crossed Destinies," is out this September in Poetics Today. He keeps a web presence at holymahogany.com.
