In May 2024, PhD candidate April Riddle traveled to New York City to conduct dissertation research. April visited the Museum of Modern Art to see the current installation of Michael Smith’s Government Approved Home Fallout Shelter Snack Bar and its accompanying arcade game Mike Builds a Shelter (1983), which will play a central role in her dissertation. During this trip, April additionally attended the Whitney Biennial and visited the Museum of the Moving Image to see the exhibition Auriea Harvey: My Veins Are the Wires, My Body Is Your Keyboard. This research trip was generously supported by a Murnane Travel Scholarship Award.
