PhD Candidate Maggie Wilson traveled to the UK this spring to visit collections at the Bodleian Library and present her research at the International Medieval Congress at the University of Leeds. She spent a week at Oxford in the historic Bodleian Library, studying examples of the Anglo-Norman Apocalypse manuscripts. Maggie’s essay on a later known example of the Apocalypse, MS Bodley 401, will be included in a forthcoming edited volume entitled Queering Medieval Art: Erotics, Bodies, and Binaries through Queer and Trans Frames. At the International Medieval Congress, Maggie presented her paper “Social Control in Convent Spaces: Nuns’ Self-Representation in Lilly Library MS Ricketts 198” as part of the four part interdisciplinary panel The Spatial Turn in Medieval Studies. Her paper represents a portion of her dissertation chapter, “The Labor of Enclosure.”
