Five History of Art Faculty members presented their research at the College Art Association Annual Conference in Chicago on February 18-21, 2026. The faculty and their presentations were:

Namiko Kunimoto presented “Okamoto Taro: Militarism and Japan’s Art Historical Present” in session Beyond Ruins: Portraits of Japanese Empire in East Asian Art and Visual Culture
Carlos Rivas co-organized and chaired the session Centering the Margins: Art and Identity Beyond the Colonial American Metropoles
Andrew Shelton presented “The Queer Setting of Frédéric Bazille’s Improvised Field Hospital (1865)” in session The Margins and Backgrounds of Portraits
Karl Whittington presented “A Textbook for Today’s Art History: A Round-Table Discussion with the New Authors of Gardner’s Art through the Ages"
