Assistant Professor Aaron Katzeman was recently invited to give an online lecture as part of the Pacific Arts Association's Pacific Currents Speaker Series on October 16. His talk, "Ahupua‘a as Agrarian Question: Art and National Liberation in Occupied Hawai‘i," examined how the idea of recovering ahupua‘a—the highly sophisticated system of land tenure in Hawai‘i—has materialized in various artistic projects since the 1970s, situating this history alongside other agrarian cultures of national liberation evident throughout the colonized world.
