History of Art students collaborate on MFA Virtual Catalogue
Seven PhD students and one undergraduate student from the History of Art department collaborated with the eight artists exhibiting their work at OSU’s Urban Arts Space as part of the MFA Thesis show Sun Spell, the culminating show of the Art MFA. Each history of art student wrote a short essay on the work of one of the artists, which were included alongside the artists’ own statements on the show’s website and virtual catalogue. This collaboration has been running for a number of years now, and is a great way for history of art students to gain experience working directly with artists.
The artists in the show are Sara Hess, Hannah McCasland, Marcus Morris, Gabriella Moreno, Matthew Pevear, Jinblossom Plati, Tracy Abbott Szatan, and Natasha woods. The history of art students who wrote for the show are Peter Smyth, Christy Sher, Mia Kivel, Allie Mickle, Anthony del Aversano, Schuyler Black-Seitz, Michiko Kubota, and Qaman Omar. Editing and coordination were done by OSU’s Vice Provost for the Arts, Dr. Lisa Florman.

The show is up at the Urban Arts Space through March 16, 2024.
