Allie Mickle traveled to Rome and Venice, Italy to complete research for her dissertation. In Rome, she visited a solo exhibition of Cao Fei's work SUPERNOVA at the MAXXI Museum, experiencing her 2020 VR work The Eternal Wave for the first time. In Venice, she spent several days experiencing the Venice Biennale and its satellite exhibitions.

While in Italy, Allie was able to see several art historical sites and collections, including the ruins of the Roman Forum, the Vatican Museums, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

The trip was supported by the History of Art Department and the Cathleen M. Murnane Travel Scholarship.
