Our graduate students contribute to our vibrant community by participating in students organizations. They take active leaderships roles, shaping the intellectual discourse of the department and field. Further, they build valuable curatorial and organizational skills to carry into their careers.
History of Art Graduate Student Association
The History of Art Graduate Student Association is a self-governed student organization comprised of current graduate students in the department. Our general goal is to continually provide lectures and events that are intellectually stimulating and professionally beneficial to students and members of the community. In addition, we hope to provide a place for our graduate students to build strong and lasting relationships with one another. We hold special lectures, workshops, and even a bi-annual conference that focuses on our student’s needs and interests. These opportunities allow us to actively participate in the community at OSU and beyond.
The Task of the Curator Collective
The Task of the Curator is a student organization at the Ohio State University. Since 2015, the cross-disciplinary group of students has curated an annual exhibition of contemporary artworks and organized corresponding public lectures and artist talks. They strive to create a productive space that generates enriching dialogues between the audience and young emerging artists. In the past, they have worked with artists such as Basma Alsharif, Ismaïl Bahri, Ayman Nahle, Lyndon Barrois Jr., Kara Güt, Ann Hirsch, Cole Lu, Alexis McCrimmon, Jiwon Choi, Jesse Chun, Kang Seung Lee, among others.
