PhD Candidate Christy Sher Visits the Wangensteen Historical Library at the University of Minnesota

Christy Sher, PhD candidate, recently visited the Wangensteen Historical Library at the University of Minnesota to conduct object-based research for her dissertation project examining the intersection of sexuality and medicine in early modern Japan. During her visit, Christy examined several Edo-period illustrated books, painting scrolls, and prints containing valuable primary source material relevant to her research focus. Christy also visited the Minneapolis Institute of Art to study complementary materials in their Japanese art collections.
This research trip provided Christy with access to rare historical documents that will contribute significantly to her dissertation work. Her research was generously supported by the Murnane Travel Scholarship and the Graduate Research Small Grant.
