PhD Candidate Cole Graham Travels to Vienna for Dissertation

Graham conducted research for his forthcoming dissertation, tentatively titled Bodily Matters: Egon Schiele and the Erotics of Disability. While in Vienna, Cole spent time in the archives and worked with restoration/conservation specialists at the Leopold, Albertina, and Belvedere Museums. Cole is deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked closely with a number of Schiele's works that have been shown only rarely—as well as with his letters, autographs, and sketchbooks. None of this could not have taken place without the gracious help and intellectual generosity of Mag. Sandra Dzialek at the Leopold, Dr. Elisabeth Dutz at the Albertina. and Mag. Verena Gamper at the Belvedere. The Leopold's Mag. Kerstin Jesse was also kind enough to personally guide Cole through the development of their current exhibition "Egon Schiele: The Last Years."

Cole's travel and research was made possible through the Cathleen M. Murnane Travel Scholarship and the Graduate Research Small Grant.
