PhD Candidate Dareen Hussein Presents at International Conferences
In June 2026, PhD candidate Dareen Hussein presented new research from her dissertation at two conferences: the International Association of Middle Eastern Studies in Madrid, Spain, and the Radical Film Network (RFN) in Paris, France. At the RFN, Dareen organized and chaired a panel entitled “Cinematic Solidarities and the Palestinian Resistance: Past and Present” where she presented her paper “Sites of Solidarity: Film Festivals, Movie Magazines, and the Palestinian Struggle”. In her free time, she attended film screenings and art exhibitions, like the pictured Wael Shawky: Drama 1882 at the Grand Palais in Paris, among others. Her trip was generously supported by the Department’s Murnane Travel Scholarship and the Graduate Research Small Grant.
