PhD candidate Elise David has recently been awarded an AAS China and Inner Asia Council Small Grant, a Coca-Cola Critical Difference for Women Grant, money from the Walter Read Hovey Memorial Fund, and the Louise Zung-nyi Loh Memorial Fellowship to conduct research in China, Taiwan and Japan for her dissertation entitled: “Making Visible Feminine Modernities: The Traditionalist Paintings and Modern Methods of Wu Shujuan.”
