PhD Candidate Liz Rae Heise-Glass Takes Research Trip to Southern California

Over the spring break, 2025, PhD candidate Liz Rae Heise-Glass took a fruitful research trip to southern California. Liz’s visit took her from the high desert where she conducted a studio visit with an artist who will be the subject of one of Liz’s dissertation chapters, to downtown LA where she took in an exhibition about the composer and musician Arthur Russell at REDCAT. She also spent time at the Getty Research Institute poring through materials from The Kitchen Archive, and at the Mike Kelley Foundation in Highland Park exploring their archival holdings. She rounded out her trip with visits to the Broad and MOCA Los Angeles. This trip was generously supported by the Arts and Humanities Small Research Grant and a Cathleen M. Murnane Travel Scholarship.
