On May 4, PhD student Dareen Hussein presented a paper titled “Activating the Archive: Cinema of the Palestinian Revolution in Twenty-First Century Film and Video” at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, Portugal as part of the 2022 Spring Seminar: Traumatic Landscapes.

Dareen’s trip was supported by the Arts and Humanities Graduate Research Small Grant and the Cathleen M. Murnane Travel Scholarship.

While in Porto, Dareen was able to see the collections of the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves, including a retrospective exhibition of films by Manoel de Oliveira.
