PhD Student Emilela Thomas Attends Textile Course and Conducts Research in Germany and the Netherlands
During the last few weeks of August 2022, PhD student Emilela Thomas-Adams traveled to Germany and the Netherlands to conduct preliminary dissertation research and attend a textile course. Emilela visited textile and medieval art collections at museums and convents in (and around) Hamburg, Munich, and Cologne. While in Leiden, Emilela took an intensive textile class at the Textile Research Centre. The class offered rich and interactive instruction on the fundamental elements of textile production as well as hands-on experience with the center’s encyclopedic collection. Emilela’s travel and coursework was generously supported by the Cathleen M. Murnane Travel Scholarship and funding from the department.
