PhD Student Schuyler Black-Seitz Travels To Europe To Conduct Dissertation Research

In July 2023, PhD student Schuyler Black-Seitz traveled to Europe to conduct dissertation research. Schuyler’s primary focus in Paris, Rome, Vienna, Prague, and Berlin was an exploration of monumental art and politics in the Interwar period. Visits to museums, political monuments, and a variety of architectural sites were invaluable for Schuyler’s research into monumentality and New-Deal politics in the United States during the 1930s. Highlights included visits to the Centre Pompidou, to the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome, to Karl Marx Hof in Vienna, and to the Olympiastadion in Berlin. This trip was generously supported by the Cathleen M. Murnane Travel Scholarship Fund.
