PhD Student Tony Del Aversano Travels to Italy for Dissertation Research
In January, PhD student Tony Del Aversano traveled to Florence, Italy to see the exhibition Fra Angelico, a retrospective on the renowned fifteenth-century Italian artist. There, he saw art works related to his proposed dissertation that looks at how artists of the late medieval period chose to depict angels in their paintings. The trip also gave Tony the opportunity to see fourteenth-century frescos in the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, that are usually covered by later art works.
This research trip was generously supported by the Cathleen M. Murnane Travel Scholarship.
