Professor Jody Patterson to Speak at Slate Valley Museum
Dr. Jody Patterson, Professor and Roy Lichtenstein Foundation Chair of Art History, will present her research at the Slate Valley Museum in Granville, New York, as part of a series connected to the museum's new exhibition, "One Painting, Many Stories: Exploring the Legacy and Context of a Slate Valley WPA Mural." The series focuses on Martha Levy's 1939 work, "Men Working in Slate Quarry." Professor Patterson's talk will address the the relationship between large-scale public murals and everyday life during the Great Depression's decade of social, political, and economic crisis.
