Area of Study: 19th Century European Art
Trenton Olsen is a third-year PhD student focusing on the art of nineteenth-century Europe. Trent recently received a support from the Murnane Fund through the department of History of Art at OSU to sponsor preliminary dissertation research in Paris. His dissertation examines varied expressions of French masculinity in post-revolutionary and Romantic portraiture. He received his MA in art history from Brigham Young University in 2014. Trent’s research interests include French art in the long nineteenth century, gender and sexuality, modernity and the city, and transnational European artistic networks, especially those formed between Russia and the West.
