Many thanks to Dr. Steven Nelson for joining history of art graduate students and faculty for a lunchtime discussion of his work on Monday March 25 before his Ludden Lecture that evening. Dr. Nelson is the Dean of the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery in Washington D.C. He engaged in discussion about a reading, his article “La France et ses colonies: Mapping, Representing, and Visualizing Empire,” as well as talking to graduate students about current trends in the field.
