Join us for an information session about “Medieval Art in Italy: Rome and Florence,” a study abroad program run by Prof. Whittington in May 2025.  Information about the study abroad program can be found on the Global Education website

Medieval Art in Italy will be taught with a week in Columbus and two weeks engaging directly with works of art in Rome and Florence, Italy. The focus of the course will be on the art and architecture of these cities from the Late Roman Empire through the Early Renaissance (approximately 300-1400 CE). Participants will explore churches, town halls, catacombs, mosaics, paintings, sculptures, icons and other media in order to understand the cultural landscape of the medieval Italian city.

Every day participants will visit a new cultural site and explore it together through the professor’s presentations, extensive discussion and independent activities. Students will have a great deal of free time on their own as well to explore these amazing European cultural centers. In addition to Rome and Florence, the group will also take day trips to Pisa and Siena.
