Career Update: Izzy Desantis (BA 2020)

Izzy Desantis graduated from OSU’s History of Art department with her BA in 2020. Read below for an update on what she’s been up to since graduation:
Since graduating from Ohio State in 2020, I studied fine art in Paris, and received my MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute in London, where I wrote my thesis on the use of text in the paintings of New York artist Florine Stettheimer. I then moved to New York myself, where I began work as the researcher and writer for the Evening Sale at Phillips Auction House; even though I wrote mostly on contemporary art, I managed to make lots of connections to the medieval art history I studied at OSU! Currently, I write freelance, and I am the lead teaching artist for Do Ho Suh’s Artland, an installation made in collaboration with children visiting the Brooklyn Museum. I first learned of Suh’s work in Professor Kunimoto’s contemporary Asian art seminar in 2018, so it’s been such a full-circle moment to work with the artist’s studio! I also run a risograph press out of my apartment in Brooklyn, a self-publishing project called Vanitas Press! @vanitas.press
