The Department would like to congratulate all of the 2023 History of Art graduates. The Department also recognizes two undergraduate 2022-23 graduates who have received departmental awards. 

The Barbara Groseclose Award for Outstanding Paper in the History of Art is given every year to a graduating senior who produced an exceptional paper in the senior research seminar. It is named after a beloved emeritus faculty member who taught American art at OSU for a number of years. This year’s award goes to Lauren Marshall for her outstanding paper “On the Banks: An Exploration of George Bellows’ East River Swimming in Relation to Leisure in the Progressive Era,” written for Prof. Patterson’s Senior Seminar. Congratulations, Lauren! 

The Department Valedictorian in History of Art is an award given every year to a graduating senior with the highest GPA.  This year’s award goes to Abby O’Donnell. Great work, Abby!
