Ph.D. student Christy Sher awarded Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship

Ph.D. student Christy Sher is awarded the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship for both the Summer of 2023 and the Academic Year 2023-2024, with funding from the U.S. Department of Education. As a summer FLAS fellow, Christy will attend the Middlebury Language Schools in Vermont for eight weeks to advance her modern Japanese training. In the Academic Year 2023-2024, Christy will pursue classical Japanese studies while continuing her modern Japanese classes and exploring East Asian-related area or international studies at the OSU East Asian Studies Center. Additionally, Christy will continue her study of Japanese art history under the guidance of Professor Namiko Kunimoto in the Department of History of Art.
