PhD candidate Dareen Hussein presents a paper at the 2025 European Network of Cinema and Media Studies conference

In June 2025, PhD candidate Dareen Hussein presented a paper entitled "Les deux écrans and the Shaping of Contemporary Arab Women's Film Criticism" at the 2025 European Network of Cinema and Media Studies conference in Lisbon, Portugal. This presentation derives from Dareen's dissertation chapter on Algerian national film cultures. She presented the paper as part of a pre-constituted panel with other film and media scholars and archivists, entitled "Experiments in Decolonial Worldbuilding: The Algerian Magazine Les deux écrans".

 

Her trip was supported by the Graduate School's Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship (AGGRS), Arts and Humanities Graduate Research Small Grant, and the Department's Graduate Symposium Award.
