PhD Candidate Lauren M. Caskey Traveled to Washington D.C. to see Alma Thomas exhibit
This October, PhD Candidate Lauren M. Caskey traveled to Washington D.C. to see Composing Color: Paintings by Alma Thomas at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art. Thomas is the subject of Lauren's dissertation which was awarded the OSU's Presidential Fellowship in 2022. Composing Color separated Thomas's paintings by three themes: the flower garden, the Space Race, and the influence of music. "The exhibition was well worth it," stated Lauren, "Autumn Leaves Fluttering in the Wind and Eclipse were both on display and they are two of my favorites by Alma." This trip was funded by the Arts and Humanities Graduate Research Small Grant and the Mudrak Graduate Research Award.
