PhD Student Cole J. Graham Receives Scholarship to American Antiquarian Society Seminar
Ph.D student Cole J. Graham recently spent a week at the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, Massachusetts. Cole attended the society's annual CHAViC (Center for Historic American Visual Culture) summer seminar, whose topic this year was "Disability Histories in the Archives: Redress, Protest, and Justice." The seminar—for which Cole received one of two full scholarships awarded to students whose perspective the society wishes to see reflected among the attendees—allowed Cole to work with scholars of all sorts in all stages of their careers, from tenured faculty and research librarians to students like himself. Among the benefits of the CHAViC seminar were its incredible disciplinarity and the access provided to primary sources in the visual archive. While there, Cole conducted research on early gynecological practices that will be relevant to his dissertation. Congratulations, Cole!
