Senior History of Art Majors Visit New York City with Prof. Andrew Shelton
For the second consecutive year, students enrolled in our senior research seminar traveled to New York City over Fall Break in order to conduct research and visit exhibitions. Led this year by Prof. Andrew Shelton, the senior research seminar was focused the art of Manet and Degas, in tandem with an exhibition on these two artists this fall at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In addition to visiting the Metropolitan Museum twice to study works in the show, the 9 students also visited the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art (where they met with History of Art alum Adelia Gregory, who works at MOMA in Public Engagement), and the Morgan Library and Museum (where they met with the curator of drawings and got to examine drawings by the two artists firsthand).
