Prof. Karl Whittington and PhD Students Emilela Thomas-Adams and Margaret Wilson attended the International Medieval Congress at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, the largest annual gathering of medieval studies scholars in the world.  Both students presented papers related to their dissertation projects: Emilela presented “Material Memory: Imitation and Reuse in Renaissance Florentine Convents” in a session sponsored by DISTAFF (Discussion, Interpretation, and Study of Textile Arts, Fabrics, and Fashion) and Maggie presented “Master Heinrich’s Two Bodies: Lay Production of Devotional Sculpture at St. Katharinenthal Convent” at a session sponsored by the 14th Century Society. All three enjoyed networking with other scholars, attending research and teaching panels, and seeing craft demonstrations.
