Before completing his PhD degree, Yifan Li (PhD 2024) traveled to China in July 2024 for research in Beijing, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. During this trip, he visited museums, gathered sources, and engaged in discussions with curators and scholars on his research questions. While in Guangzhou, Yifan was particularly excited to explore the exhibition “Age of Passion: The Establishment and Transformation of Art in New China” at the Guangzhou Museum of Art, where he encountered several paintings that he analyzed in his dissertation.
