PhD candidate Emilela Thomas-Adams has been awarded a prestigious 9-month fellowship at the Getty Research Center in Los Angeles. As a predoctoral fellow from September to June, Emilela will be part of a cohort of scholars working around the Getty’s annual theme of “repair.”  She will be working on her dissertation project, “Silk and Skin: Repair and Recycling in Late Medieval Objects,” which explores the creative and spiritual potential of repaired and recycled medieval objects, especially those made of parchment and fabric.  More information about this year’s cohort of fellows can be found on the Getty's website
